Angie Dion: Bringing Heart, Safety, and Sparkle to Every Stage

When you meet Angie Dion, you don’t just meet a safety consultant—you meet a force of energy, authenticity, and heart. With over 20 years of experience in safety across HVAC, construction, tunnelling, and manufacturing, Angie has carved out a space for herself in industries that are often heavily male-dominated. And she hasn’t just survived—she’s thrived, all while bringing her unique mix of professionalism, practicality, and personality to the table.

From Massage Therapist to Safety Leader

Angie’s journey into safety wasn’t exactly planned. For nearly two decades, she worked as a massage therapist until her shoulders eventually told her it was time for a change. That turning point led her into the world of safety, where she quickly realised she could still do what she loved most—care for people—just in a very different way.

At first, she resisted. Safety felt foreign and uninspiring. But once she stepped onto worksites, she discovered her true strength. Not only was she breaking new ground as one of the first women on construction sites two decades ago, but she was also building trust and respect in an environment that wasn’t always welcoming. It was then Angie realised: this was more than a job. It was a calling.

Beyond Tick-and-Flick Safety

Ask Angie about her approach to safety and she’ll tell you—it’s not about box-ticking. It’s about people.

With a sharp focus on mental health, management responsibilities, and empowering women to step into trades and leadership roles, Angie’s mission is clear: to create workplaces that are not only safe but truly supportive. Whether she’s running toolbox talks, facilitating health and safety training, or advising leaders strategically, she shows organisations how to move from reactive compliance to proactive care.

Her favourite way to describe it? “Bringing the pink to your safety.” It’s her reminder to bring femininity, heart, and humanity into a space that can sometimes feel cold and clinical.

A Passion for the Microphone

But Angie’s talents don’t stop at safety. Give her a microphone, and you’ll see her come alive. From keynote speaking to emceeing weddings, Angie has an undeniable presence that lights up any room.

She laughs about how it started—singing into broomsticks and vacuum cleaners as a child—and how, as a “good Greek girl,” she was told her role was to marry and raise a family, not to sing or speak on stage. But that didn’t stop her. Today, whether she’s delivering a keynote, facilitating training, or hosting a celebration, Angie brings that same sparkle she’s had since childhood.

As she says, “Some people are anybody’s for a glass of wine. I’m anybody’s for a microphone.”

Living with Purpose and Resilience

Like many inspiring leaders, Angie’s path hasn’t been without challenges. She’s open about her experiences with mental health, including a nervous breakdown in 2010, and how those struggles have shaped the way she supports others today. As a trained mental health first aid ambassador, she knows the importance of breaking stigma, speaking up, and creating safe spaces for others to be heard.

Her personal transformation has also included significant lifestyle changes, including a weight-loss journey that tested her resilience and reminded her what true confidence is all about. Through it all, she’s remained committed to showing up authentically—for herself, for her family, and for the people she serves.

Sneakers, Steel Caps, or Stilettos

Perhaps nothing sums up Angie better than her latest project: Sneakers, Steel Caps, or Stilettos. It’s her signature workshop and event theme, inspired by the three pairs of shoes she wears most often. Each pair represents a side of her—casual, practical, and glamorous.

It’s also her message to the world: no matter who you are or what shoes you wear, empowerment comes from being authentic and unapologetically you.

The Spark Angie Brings

Whether she’s training teams in construction, emceeing a wedding in stilettos, or speaking on stage about mental health and empowerment, Angie Dion brings something rare—an energy that is both professional and deeply human. She reminds us that safety isn’t just about rules, it’s about people. That work isn’t just about showing up, it’s about showing up as yourself. And that life, at its best, is lived with confidence, courage, and a touch of sparkle.
