Hello and welcome to The True North Show. I’m your host, Megan North. I am a purpose finder, mental health professional, and guide for those ready to return to who they truly are.

Welcome to the show.

Not at all.

Is business intuition woo-woo magic, or practical wisdom that drives real success? Anne and I explore how Akashic Records insights and gut instincts can influence strategy and results. Anne is also my online business manager, and we definitely don’t have normal conversations when we meet.

So we’re diving into intuition in business. When you think about intuition in small business, what does it actually look like day-to-day? And why do so many entrepreneurs hesitate to trust it?

03:24 — Anne Clark
When I started in business, I always referred to it as my head and my heart. Coming from a corporate background, everything was systems-driven and logical. You learn marketing, sales, and all the pragmatic things we’re told we need in business.

Over the years, I’ve worked with many people who were following checklists simply because they were told they had to. When I asked them where they truly loved showing up in their business, everything changed. When they spoke from the heart, their energy shifted and so did their results.

I remember working with someone who was told they had to show up everywhere — every platform, every strategy. Nothing was working. I asked where they actually loved being in their business. They said they loved speaking on stage and connecting face-to-face. I encouraged them to focus on that. They did, and now they’re thriving, have written a book, secured speaking engagements, and even have a movie deal in progress.

When we follow rigid systems that don’t resonate, it often doesn’t work. Our world has changed. Intuition and energy now play a larger role in how we connect and show up.

People are craving authenticity — not oversharing, but real connection.

Social media can be exhausting if you feel you have to show up everywhere. Each platform has its own energy. Some resonate more strongly with certain audiences.

When posts come from genuine connection, engagement is stronger. When content is created simply to tick a box, people can feel the difference.

People don’t just buy what we offer — they buy why we offer it.

When I began working intuitively in corporate environments, I worried how it would be perceived. Eventually I realised many people were more open than expected.

11:14 — Anne Clark
There is still hesitancy in corporate environments. Many of us were taught not to share opinions openly. When I first started my business after having children, I tried to hide that part of my life. Then I heard another business owner say she wouldn’t hide her children because they were part of her journey. That changed everything for me.

COVID also demonstrated that flexible work is possible, yet many organisations reverted to old habits.

Intuition is not about mystical stereotypes. It’s about trusting instincts and recognising that many paths can lead to the same destination.

Discernment is important. Not everyone resonates with spiritual language, and that’s okay.

17:43 — Anne Clark
Some clients don’t engage with the spiritual side at all, and that’s fine. Often people benefit from intuitive approaches without labelling them that way.

Trust is a key theme. Sometimes messages are subtle. When something repeatedly doesn’t work, it can be an invitation to pause and reassess.

26:31 — Anne Clark
Strategy and intuition work together. We still need budgets and plans, but the way we show up matters. If we approach sales from desperation, people feel it. When we approach from alignment, opportunities open.

Ideas often come in quiet moments. Those thoughts frequently hold valuable guidance.

We still analyse data — which platforms convert, where audiences engage, and what strategies are effective. Intuition helps interpret that data in a way that feels aligned.

Trust is essential in partnerships. When clients trust support systems, they create space to focus on growth.

Logic and intuition complement each other. For example, smaller offers can fund larger future projects.

Aligned ideas tend to resurface repeatedly. Writing ideas down and revisiting them later often provides clarity.

Patterns repeat until lessons are recognised. Over time, signals become easier to identify and trust.

Trusting myself has been the biggest lesson of the past 12 months. Often we believe we need more qualifications or validation, when in reality we already hold the knowledge and experience we need.

When I trust myself, everything flows more easily.
